The Berry Formerly Know As Gemini's Release!!

Hello, Berry lovers!! Lois Lane, here!

I know you guys remember me talking about Codename: Gemini, the low end BlackBerry device that is sporting the newest RIM innovation, the trackpad. Back then, there was a theory that it would be the first device released as a "BlackBerry in a Box", which is said to be an overall goal, before the end of the year. The "BlackBerry in a Box" concept is the same as a prepaid phone, only a lot more interesting. Anyway, that theory was completely disproved when Codename: Gemini was released as the BlackBerry Curve 8520 was released in both black and frost, yesterday, on T-Mo.

It originally appeared on the site later last week, without a price, but the price has now appeared. The new Curve is selling for a seemingly cheap $129.99, with an expectation to drop down to 99.99 before the end of the year. Not to mention that T-Mo is selling it for little more than twice the price Walmart will be selling it for. How fair is it that previous T-Mo customers are getting the short end of the stick for the first low end device release?! Are they SERIOUS?!

Anyway, check out T-Mo's site and check out the screenshot, below! If anyone goes out and gets this device, let me know! I'm eager to know how functional the trackpad is!

BBM Update... Let's Talk About It!

Hola, BBMers!! Lois Lane, here!

I know that all of you have heard about the whole BlackBerry Messenger update. It was all the Berry community could talk about! I don't like speaking from a point of ignorance, so before I spoke to my audience about it, I wanted to see what the early birds has to say about this worm. **That's a lesson I learned from being first in line for the problem child (i.e. the Storm)** It seemed that as soon as the OTA file mirrors came out and my sister and I were ready to take the shot in the dark, the update was dubbed a "failure". Now I am intrigued.

As with any unofficial update, everybody ran the risk of bricking their phones and MANY actually did. When asked, on Twitter, for the update links, I provided them and made sure to tell everyone to update at their own risk... However, I didn't count on this being as catastrophic as it actually turned out to be! Here are a few of the complaints:

- Many people's downloads malfunctioned and they ended up with no BBM at all.
- Dramatically laggy message delivery.
- "Unavailable" contact statuses.
- Complete contact wipeouts. *Avoidable if you back your phone up before you do these things, guys!*
- Bricking of the device.

Now, there has been a little conspiracy theory released that has lead some to believe that the laggy messaging and "unavailable" contact statuses are thanks to a overload of the BBM servers. Allegedly, the amount of Berry users who downloaded the update, overloaded the servers and caused RIM to have to shut them down for a little while. I don't know how true this is, but I do know that overloaded servers are no excuse for the other problems. No server in the world should brick your phone.

So, now, the general consensus is that BBM 5.0 unofficial update has been a super womp, however, the option remains yours to update or not.

Here are all the links you'll need to do the deed.

Please, be advised, I do not recommend this update, especially if you are neither skilled nor patient enough to unbrick your phone or restore a lost BBM application. Do not, under any circumstances, perform this action without backing up your information using your DM.

Until next time guys, happy messaging!

T-Mo OS Update!

Hello, Lois Laners!

I wanted to let you guys know that .231 has been released for the Blackberry 8900 on T-Mo. I have already loaded it and I definitely see a difference. I was in the kitchen, making breakfast, and my phone rang in my room. The audio was drastically better! It is actually impressive what difference a little OS update can make.

Below you will find a pic of my "About" screen, with the update version!

Tetherberry, Hear My Cry!!

Hello, Lois Laners! Lois Lane, here!

Okay, so I'm sure you remember my review of the Tetherberry Mac Beta, a few days ago. My one complaint, of sorts, was that the product is $49.95 and that is a lot to pay when you're not even sure that it will work as well as something worth $50 should. Well, while on Twitter, I noticed that our friends over at Tetherberry have heard my cry! They, now, have 7 day free trials of the software! How GREAT is that?!

Run over there and try it, guys! Here's the link!

**Remember, Mac users, the Mac version is still in beta. The only reason I have it is because I signed up to be a beta tester. If you want the links to the beta software, let me know!**

Later, guys!
